The Conspiracy Page: Book One
Published in Paperback by iUniverse.com (December, 2000)
Author: R. J. Taylor
Average review score:

A thrilling science fiction novel
R. J. Taylor's The Conspiracy Page: Book One by is a thrilling science fiction novel about four young teenagers forced to rely on their senses and their minds to cope with threatening conspiracies that subtly yet firmly control the world about them. When called to help rescue an alien whose ship has crashed on Earth, they become embroiled in a race against time and the deadly inclinations of the U.S. Air Force to help a visitor from beyond the stars. The Conspiracy Page would make a welcome and popular addition to any school or community science fiction collection for young readers.

Aliens, adventure, danger and more!
I loved the four kids in this book! First they get caught changing their middle school's website, telling kids that the teachers are really aliens. As a punishment, the kids are assigned their own website. It's boring work so they decide to throw in an alien siting just to wake people up. That's when things get going! A mysterious Commander X emails them with a mission to rescue an alien from a nearby air force base. Can they rescue the alien before he gets dissected without getting into more trouble? I won't tell you, you'll just have to read it for yourself.

Creating Web Pages for Kids & Parents (Dummies Guide to Family Computing)
Published in Paperback by Hungry Minds, Inc (29 May, 1997)
Authors: Greg Holden, Stylus Media, and Brock
Average review score:

A great book for any kid who is interested in making a site!
I thought this book was very good, it showed us (kids) some HTML basics, how to make a webpage with GeoCities, etc. I like how the author's niece gave a little tip at the end of each chapter. And the activities made sure you know what they're talking about. I would definitely recommend this book to any kid who wants to make a page or site.

A great way to plan, design, and create web pages!
This book is a very usful tool in creating web pages. Don't let the price scare you, its well worth it. The author describes how to plan and create web pages plainly. Almost everything you need is on the Web or on the CD. The software is great, although most is shareware. I like how kids are used as examples for the lessons. And the comments by the author's niece. The book is easy to read and very informative. Much more helpful then a regular manual. I recomend this book.

Developing Web Applications with ASP.NET and C#
Published in Paperback by John Wiley & Sons (11 February, 2002)
Authors: Hank Meyne and Scott Davis
Average review score:

slim fast core grasp of ASP.NET and C# for the experienced
I knew Java and ASP for several months, and I had to do ASP.NET with C# at work. This is my first and only DOT NET book so far. This slim book got me into working on ASP.NET in few days. This is NOT for the BEGINNING Programmers. If you have experience in OOP like JAVA and Serverside Web scripting like ASP, you would find this book get you to ASP.NET developing fast. It has real world example and explains core essential things. Just what you need to know to get on the job quickly. You don't spend time on what you already know. It doesn't teach you C# but since I knew Java, it was perfectly ok. For more detailed stuff where I needed, I went to MSDN library. To learn more and deep in certain sections, I'll buy some other books. I am giving 5 stars because it's the only book I read and it did good job for my purpose. Thank you very much!

Doing Business With Kuwait
Published in Hardcover by Kogan Page Ltd (September, 1997)
Authors: Paul D. Kennedy, Paul D. Kennedy, and Staff Kogan Page Limited
Average review score:

Excellent Work
Doing Business with Kuwait is almost an encyclopedia about Kuwait. I wonder if Mr. Kennedy has missed anything about Kuwait. It is a remarkable work as the book talks about the history, politics, economy, and society of Kuwait. It also provides detailed information about religion, weather, demography, and many more topics.

The book contains magnificent data represented in many charts. In addition, the "Visitor Tips" sections are most useful and helpful for foreign visitors to Kuwait, whether the purpose of the visit is business, leisure, or work.

Therefore, if that part of the world, particularly Kuwait, is of an interest to you, this book is of a great great value.

THE HOW-TO BIBLE ON BUSINESSIN KUWAIT
Doing Business with Kuwait is a wide-ranging comprehensive look at how businesspersons from the West and East need to modifify their approach to business in order to be successful in the Kuwaiti environment. A brief skim through this book shows that business rules and practices in Kuwait are in fact very different than they are in the USA and the rest of the world. Indeed, as a successful businessperson operating in Kuwait, I can agree wholeheartedly with the general thrust of Mr Kennedy's book, which accords with my own business experience in Kuwait. I only wish that I had it to hand when I was starting business in Kuwait myself several years ago. Doing Business with Kuwait is logically divided into seven neat sections. These cover the country, the economy, business laws, taxation, finance&industry, the market place, and behavioural aspects. Whether it is background infomation on country, a detailed look at rules and regulations, or tips and hints on how to be successful in the Kuwait market place, it is all to be found in Doing Business with Kuwait. The book puts into words things about Kuwait that I had learned intuitively over the years. One of the striking things about Doing Business with Kuwait is how its wealth of information is presented. The individual chapters are written in a simple flowing style that is a joy to read and in which the exposition opens out gradully and very understandably. But best of all, the text is intrespersed here and there with boxes cintaining advice on how to do certain things and warnings of potential pitfalls. A really great way to present the essentials. In conclusion, I can only heartily recopmmend Doing Business with Kuwait to anyone, whether an executive of an international corporation or a small time entrepreneur like myself, cosidering taking a chance in the Kuwaiti market which, belive me, is not for the faint-hearted. I only hope that this book will be recognised for what it is, the bible on doing business in Kuwait.

Dresden Codex: Drawings of the Pages (Mayan Studies: No 3)
Published in Hardcover by Aegean Park Pr (June, 1992)
Author: J. Antonio Villacorta
Average review score:

Standard b&w edition of the Dresden Codex
Villacorta & Villacorta is the standard b&w reference on the Dresden codex, produced in 1930. Many, many papers and books use this edition because it reproduces well in b&w. What was red in the original is shown with outlines, what was black is shown solid. While many people work off 6th generation photocopies of this book, this edition is the only source I know of that is a clean first generation print. The commentary is in Spanish and based off the work of Ernst Förstemann more than 30 years before (The original is also reprinted by Aegean Park Press), but the drawings are the reason to buy the book.

Beautiful clean copy
The Dresden Codex is a masterpiece of Maya art and astronomy. This book is a reproduction using line drawings of Ernst Förstermann's chromolithographic reproductions of the original, as well as a commentary in Spanish of the contents (heavily lifted from Förstermann's commentary, also published in English by Aegean Park Press). Other copies of the Dresden are expensive and difficult to find as they are mostly out of print and/or from extremely small presses (such as a recent color copy of Försterman from a press in Guatemala). The line drawings presented here are clean, and reproduce well, whereas color reproductions of Dresden have to contend with the reduction of color to black and white when publishing papers. Many of the published papers I have seen include sixth generation photocopies of Villacorta. This reproduction is a much nicer place to start.

If you are studying the Maya, a copy of Dresden is necessary to have on your shelf.

Ducati: 50 Golden Years Through the Pages of 'Motociclismo' Magazine
Published in Hardcover by Haynes Pub Group (June, 1999)
Authors: Luigi Bianchi, Marco Masetti, and Haynes Publishing
Average review score:

A beautiful Archive of the history and passion of a marque
I found the book a touching and beautiful archive to the passion and history that has made Ducati the global success that it is today. The book is neither a technical book nor a minute chronology of the motorcycle's every intricacy, but a marvelous coffee table book tat can be picked up by Ducatisti and non enthusiasts alike, even if you just pick out your date of birth or the year you started college etc. The archive photographs suppied by Motociclismo are exquisite and the quality of the print and ease of design make for a book which is truly a delight to behold. I am sure that the cover alone would sell as a photographic print in its own right. For a trip down yesterday, today and tommorrow's roads, it cannot be beaten.

A complete history of Ducati motorcycles
This is by far the best book I've seen on Ducati history. Being a Ducati enthusiast, I found it very interesting. I can see that it would be very helpful to anyone restoring a classic Ducati. It is full of beautiful photographs and acurate information.

E-Commerce Developer's Guide to Building Community and Using Promotional Tools
Published in Paperback by Sybex (12 April, 2001)
Author: Noel Jerke
Average review score:

Excellent book must for anybody in e-commerce field
This simply the excellent book. I have Noel's other book named e-commerce developer's guide which is simply excellent too. And both books complete the topic e-commerce best way. These two books use enterprize level database, uses stored procedures, Active server pages to make websites which are excellent and can modify in any way reader can think, I mean database connectivety is flexble enough to adapt to most scenerios. Good thing is that most of webhosting providers are happy to host these type of sites because of least use of dll components, I mean i have never faced any problem with webhost providers becuase I use the same method as given in Noels books of e-commerce.

Need to build a community site??? This is the book!!!
I have been searching for quite a while that demonstrated how to build community sites using ASP and SQL. This is the book! It provides great code frameworks with excellent explanations.

Thanks Noel!

Easy Web Page Creation
Published in Paperback by Microsoft Press (31 January, 2001)
Authors: Mary Millhollon and Jeff Castrina
Average review score:

Web page delight.
I have been working with web page and web page design for about two years and I also teach the design of pages through HTML and FrontPage. For most people they need more than 1 or 2 days in a classroom in order to understand the concepts and this is where this book comes in handy.

Using the color photos of screen shots in order to make the understanding better, this book is broken down into 3 parts. Part 1 is the basics, helping you crawl in web design before you run. You'll be treated to topics like the elements of the web page, adding graphics, which include types of art, colors, pixels, photos, drawings, backgrounds and bullets.

Part 2 is the creation of the web page, which deals with subjects like posting, HTML layout, using Microsoft Word and FrontPage as web editors. The ideas and techniques for both Word and FrontPage are well explained and the screen shots included make it easier to visualize what the final outcome will look like.

Part 3 is the going live phase of the design, with the uploading of pages with the FTP protocol and web page updating after you have gone live. The hands-on really starts in part 2, which may be a drawback to the book, but overall information wise this book will transform the novice designer into a serious web master in no time flat.

What a marvelous book!
Never seen anything better--probably never will. I have read about Web design, HTML, etc. in other books and articles, but I have never been completely at ease with the subject and didn't bother to read the material in detail. It never really sunk in. Then, this book came along and it opened my eyes. The whole book is superbly structured and the mystery about Web design is all cleared. Everything in the book is so well presented and appears in the right sequence. And there are so many tips strewn about. I now know HTML much better. Your confidence grows as you keep reading. I have a website done in Word2000 and I didn't quite use Word's full potential till I read Chapter 9. I had ignored WordArt for example. Now I am much the wiser in so many ways. I can't imagine any better book coming along.

Encyclopedia of Defensive Basketball Drills
Published in Hardcover by Prentice Hall Trade (June, 1986)
Authors: Burrall Paye and B. Page
Average review score:

A Book for Every Coach
This book is a must for all basketball coaches, no matter what kind of defense they use. Coach Paye addresses all the defenses in seperate areas of the book. This book includes drills that will strengthen not only individual defensive play, but team play as well. What seperates this book from the rest is Coach Paye does not leave out even the smallest of details. This is true of every book Coach Paye has written.

Winning Defense Made Easy!
Given to me by a women's college coach, this is the best book I've seen that breaks defensive skills into not only specific drills BUT tells which defense needs this skill and which does not. I am amazed at the insight some of the drills portray. I thank him for writing this book.

This book was sooo funny-- I laughed til i cried! Everyone who needs a good laugh should buy this book! thanks Don page! Write another book - i shall be 1st in-line to order it ! Virginia Davis

So dang funny, I couldn't catch my breath!
What makes this book so great is its true! I wasn't born in Texas but got a copy of this terrific book and leave it in the "bath" for times when I need to study for a while. My wife asked what the heck I was doing, laughing so hard, with the door to the bathroom closed. She probably thinks I'm a little strange, but whats wrong with a little humor!

We are planning to buy a dozen for Christmas. This is sure to become a best seller. It was worth the $15 just to spend a good hour laughing out loud. What a blast! Plus, you don't get that many books in full color for $15 these days.

Hope you enjoy it as much as we have.
